I grew these red and white tulips in a pot near my front door. They bloomed for weeks in our cool Seattle spring weather. They were a beacon of cheerfulness after a long difficult winter. When the sun appeared, they would turn their heads toward it and open gracefully. They were such a gift that I needed to immortalize the great happiness they gave me in a painting.
This original watercolor was done on paper stretched over a wrapped canvas. The painting continues around the four sides and is sealed with cold wax medium.
