I found this delightful garden vignette in Seattle. The dark red dahlias with black leaves against the striped yellow-green cannas is such an exotic color combination! Capturing the color of the black leaves was a super fun challenge. The pattern of plant shapes radiates with warmth and rich color.
This original watercolor was done on paper stretched over a wrapped canvas. The painting continues around the four sides and is sealed with cold wax medium. No frame or glass is needed.
